2 whole years

Our anniversary fell on a Monday this year and we were both scheduled to work so we decided to celebrate on Sunday the 7th. That morning when Marcel got home I surprised him with his present! (Notice the awesome door behind Marcel! Oh the joys of an old house!)
Toby wanted to get in on the present opening action!
He was pretty excited because all of his jeans have holes in them so these were very much needed! I then proceeded to show him the delicious cheesecake that I made for us!
(Delicious and so simple! Thanks Ferrin for the recipe!)

After showing him everything, I got in the shower to start getting reading for the day. When I got out of the shower, this is what I saw!

I was SO excited about this gift! I have been in serious need of these things because the blow-dryer and straightener that I have was given to me by my parents when I graduated in '07! Needless to say they weren't working the greatest and my hair could air dry probably faster than that blow-dryer could dry it (slightly exaggerated but you get the idea)! He picked everything out separately by himself and put it all together! He is so good at that stuff! I used my present to do my hair and it was like heaven! I love new hair stuff! :)

After we were both ready we headed north, dropped Toby off with Manuel and then headed up to eat at the new Texas Roadhouse restaurant in Orem. Only problem was that when we pulled up to the restaurant there were no cars in the parking lot and there were big banners saying that the grand opening will be Nov. 15th! Total bummer. We then decided to go to Olive Garden because I've been craving their delicious Lasagna Fritta! We had a really funny waitress who we somewhat rudely nicknamed the "Crazy old Italian Lady"! She was pretty funny but she took awhile to get us our check and everything so we ended up missing the movie we wanted to see (Megamind). It was okay though. She was very nice and made us laugh so we weren't mad! To make up for it we went to Walmart and bought "Toy Story 3" to watch since we hadn't seen it yet! It made me cry....a lot! Marcel admitted that it made him sad but he knew that Disney wouldn't let it be over without a happy ending so he didn't let it get to him. I don't have the luxury of that sort of control over my emotions and tear ducts so I cried! It is a good movie though and we enjoyed it along with some scrumptious cheesecake!

After the movie we got out the whine glasses from our wedding that are etched with our initials, poured some Sparkling Cider and Marcel made a very sweet and heart felt toast that brought tears to my eyes (darn that self control)! He truly is an amazing man!

Many people take trips for their anniversaries or go away for a weekend which would be nice to do but we don't need to. Not necessarily because we can't but because just being together is enough!

Here's a little recap on a wonderful day that happened 2 years ago and the week that followed!

My grandma Westenskow used to design wedding cakes so I was able to go through a TON of her cake decorating books and choose different details I liked. When I was finished I came up with what you see here! I gave the drawing to our cake decorator and she did an amazing job! It looks exactly like my drawing! Also for Marcel's groom's cake, my grandma W. helped me make it! It was fun spending time with her and making such a fun cake! Marcel LOVED it!

For wedding presents, I got Marcel a bow and he finally told me where we were going for our honeymoon (hence the hats)!

After the reception was over we played a big round of Musical Chairs! It was a blast! It got down to Marcel and Pascal and Marcel won by pulling the chair out from under Pascal! Good times!

Now for the Honeymoon (no worries, I kept it G rated)!

We went to Magical Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom, Disney's Hollywood Studios and Downtown Disney.

Then we went to the Kennedy Space Station where we were able to watch the Endeavor take off! It was an incredible experience! Marcel was like a little kid at Christmas here! Space is one of his favorite subjects!
We had a great time and we plan on doing it all again sometime in the future!

A letter to my husband:

Marcel,
Two years have come and gone and they have been great! Sure there have been some hard times but we have stuck together and worked through things the whole way. I love you so much! You are my best friend and the love of my life. You are always there for me and never let me down. I am so very lucky to have such a wonderful man to take care of me and to live my life with. I am so happy that fate brought us together (no matter how odd of a meeting it was)! We have had a wonderful two years together and I can't wait for the many MANY more to come!
Love your Wifey,
Jen
