The day was finally here! In Lou of the movie I emailed my mom some pictures and she printed them off on iron-on paper and made Jes, Austen, and myself t-shirts (Marcel didn't want one)!
The theatre was packed! We got there at around 11:50pm and had to park at the end of the dirt parking lot at Taco Time! Yeah, tons of people! I thought I was being kinda cool wearing my hair in a Katniss side braid with some Cinna gold glitter eyeliner but it turns out that I just blended in with all of the teeny boppers! Haha! Not really a surprise but still. We got our goodies and went to our seats anxiously awaiting for the Games to start!
Don't mind the demon eyes in this picture! Our eyes are just ablaze with excitement!! ;)
I'm going to be honest here, I was very disappointed in the movie. There were so many small unnecessary changes made to the movie that I was left frustrated when it was over. I know I may have gotten a little too excited and my expectations quite high but the changes they made were things that wouldn't have been a big deal to leave the same as the book. It was very rushed and you didn't really have any time to connect to the characters. If I hadn't read the book I think I may have been a little confused. I'm very sad that it wasn't as good as it had the potential to be. That all being said, it did have it's good things as well. I won't go into details so as not to spoil anything. Overall I won't be rushing back to the theater to see it again any time soon. I can wait for it to come out on bluray!
With it being the midnight showing we were pretty darn tired by the time we finally got home! Marcel and Toby were in bed falling asleep in no time!
Sorry to be such a downer about the movie and if you like it then that's great! I will stay hopeful that the next movie will be better (since the first in a series of book-to-movie films are never the greatest).
